Athenian Door Wall Vessel

Capture memories of wandering through the streets of Athens with a handbuilt ceramic wall vessels. Inspired by the intricate impressive ironwork that adorns Athenian homes, Theodora created slab-built vessels in the classical amphora shape. Once dried to a leather hard condition, Theodora used the ancient sgraffito technique to carve the design to reveal the original clay body below. This unhurried technique originated in the 10th century from ancient Egypt and Roman periods with a substantial appearance of original designs during the 13th century.
